Why are You Voting for Clinton? A Letter to Liberal America

Why are You Voting for Clinton? A Letter to Liberal America Dear Liberal America, I write to you confused, and melancholic. I am melancholic about Bernie’s serious losses across five states last week, and I am confused why he is losing. The simple answer no doubt is because Hillary is winning, but that only exacerbates my confusion. Liberal America, why is Hillary winning? Because you all are voting for her. But why are you voting for her? Seriously why are you voting for her? It’s the answer to that question which is so vexing.

Article: A world war has begun. Break the silence | OpEdNews

Article: A world war has begun. Break the silence | OpEdNews I have been filming in the Marshall Islands, which lie north of Australia, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Whenever I tell people where I have been, they ask, "Where is that?" If I offer a clue by referring to "Bikini," they say, "You mean the swimsuit."

Few seem aware that the bikini swimsuit was named to celebrate the nuclear explosions that destroyed Bikini island. Sixty-six nuclear devices were exploded by the United States in the Marshall Islands between 1946 and 1958 -- the equivalent of 1.6 Hiroshima bombs every day for 12 years.

Bikini is silent today, mutated and contaminated. Palm trees grow in a strange grid formation. Nothing moves. There are no birds. The headstones in the old cemetery are alive with radiation. My shoes registered "unsafe" on a Geiger counter.

How Propaganda Feeds War on Syria  :  Information Clearing House - ICH

By Rick Sterling

March 18, 2016 "Information Clearing House" - "Consortium News"- There has been a pattern of sensational but untrue reports that lead to public acceptance of U.S. and Western military intervention in countries around the world.

For instance, in Gulf War 1 (1990-91), there were reports of Iraqi troops stealing incubators from Kuwait, leaving babies to die on the cold floor. Relying on the testimony of a Red Crescent doctor, Amnesty Interenational ‘verified’ the false claims.

Ten years later, there were reports of yellow cake uranium going to Iraq for development of weapons of mass destruction.

One decade later, there were reports of Libyan soldiers drugged on viagra and raping women as they advanced.

In 2012, NBC broadcaster Richard Engel was supposedly kidnapped by a pro-Assad Syrian militia but luckily freed by Syrian opposition fighters, the “Free Syrian Army.”

All these reports were later confirmed to be fabrications and lies. They all had the goal of manipulating public opinion and they all succeeded in one way or another. Despite the consequences, which were often disastrous, none of the perpetrators were punished or paid any price.

Article: Do Unto Others: A Chilling Look at Israel's Treatment of Palestinians and Why HRC Should Have address It at AIPAC | OpEdNewsThis commentary represents a first. I've never written one based solely on a book that so moved me I had to speak about it. But Ilan Pappe's 2006 history of what transpired in Palestine beginning in the late 19th century and culminating in 1948 -- events which take us directly to the present -- has motivated me to write about The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine as someone who cares about human rights, as a person who tries to believe that evil is the absence of good rather than the inverse, and as a secular Jew who once felt proud of a country that seemed to represent liberation. Now I realize there's a historical reality that most don't know and that many Jews will continue to deny.

“She sounds like Netanyahu”: Hillary Clinton goes extra hawkish in her biased, die-hard pro-Israel AIPAC speech - Salon.comHillary Clinton has always been hawkish about the Middle East, but she took her belligerence to a new level in her speech at the annual conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee on Monday.

Much of the rhetoric of the Democratic presidential front-runner sounded indistinguishable from that of a neocon. Some viewers even compared her to hard-line right-wing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

McGraw-Hill destroys textbook to placate pro-Israel bloggers | The Electronic Intifada

McGraw-Hill destroys textbook to placate pro-Israel bloggers | The Electronic Intifada The publisher McGraw-Hill Education is destroying all copies of a political science textbook after receiving complaints from hardline supporters of Israel that it features a series of “anti-Israel” maps.

The college textbook, titled Global Politics: Engaging a Complex World, was published in 2012. But it wasn’t until early this month that the maps generated criticism from a pro-Israel blogger known as Elder of Ziyon.

Within a week of the initial outcry, McGraw-Hill began destroying all copies of the book, scrubbed the book from its website, promised to reimburse anyone who bought the book and apologized to the offended right-wing bigots behind the manufactured controversy.

Article: An Ugly Smear Campaign | OpEdNews

Article: An Ugly Smear Campaign | OpEdNewsAn ugly feature of life in modern Washington is that anyone who dares criticize Israel's treatment of the Palestinians can expect to be subjected to nasty accusations of "anti-Semitism" and other attacks that are meant to make the target politically untouchable.

For example, The New York Times published a full-page ad on Saturday paid for by a pro-Zionist group called The World Values Network featuring a grainy graphic of Sidney Blumenthal and his son Max Blumenthal along with a demand that "Hillary Clinton must disavow her anti-Israel advisors."

The text accuses Sidney Blumenthal, Clinton's longtime personal friend and adviser, of sending the Secretary of State emails in which "he was obsessed with painting the Jewish state in the most unflattering light."

The ad cites Blumenthal writing on March 20, 2010, that "The policy of the present Israeli government is endangering the lives of American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan." Blumenthal is also attacked for noting Israeli "settlers' theft of water from Palestinian towns" and, according to the ad, sending Clinton an article "claiming Israel was pursuing goals contrary to U.S. interests, while 'starting a rebellion' against the United States."

Sanders May Be Slipping but America is Awakening to Socialism   :  Information Clearing House - ICH

Sanders May Be Slipping but America is Awakening to Socialism   :  Information Clearing HouThe declared socialist presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders took a beating this week in the Super Tuesday primaries, with his Democrat rival Hillary Clinton winning all four states on offer.

Sanders is still in the running. The overall race to win presidential nomination is not over yet, with some big states like California and Washington yet to vote. But it’s looking like a long shot for the Vermont senator now.

Some might pessimistically conclude that socialism is a non-runner as a political choice in America. As one pundit recently asserted on CNN in negative reference to Sanders, the United States is a “center-right”country, not a left one. Suggesting that there was an inherent aversion to socialism among most Americans.

On the contrary, one could very well make the counter argument that socialism has a great future in the US. (And not just in the US, but globally –provided that the policies are confidently presented.) In this view, socialism actually represents an exciting new beginning in the US. With time, public support for such policies can only grow. Who knows in the future, a socialist president may take the White House; and a socialist Congress may be elected. Why not?se - ICH

Clinton: Destroy Syria for Israel -

Clinton: Destroy Syria for Israel -
A newly-released Hilary Clinton email confirmed that the Obama administration has deliberately provoked the civil war in Syria as the “best way to help Israel.”

In an indication of her murderous and psychopathic nature, Clinton also wrote that it was the “right thing” to personally threaten Bashar Assad’s family with death.

US Hypocritical Lectures to Cuba     :  Information Clearing House - ICH

US Hypocritical Lectures to Cuba     :  Information Clearing House - ICHMarch 20, 2016 "Information Clearing House" - In advance of President Barack Obama’s historic visit to Cuba on March 20, there is speculation about whether he can pressure Cuba to improve its human rights. But a comparison of Cuba’s human rights record with that of the United States shows that the US should be taking lessons from Cuba.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights contains two different categories of human rights – civil and political rights on the one hand; and economic, social and cultural rights on the other.

Civil and political rights include the rights to life, free expression, freedom of religion, fair trial, self-determination; and to be free from torture, cruel treatment, and arbitrary detention.

Economic, social and cultural rights comprise the rights to education, healthcare, social security, unemployment insurance, paid maternity leave, equal pay for equal work, reduction of infant mortality; prevention, treatment and control of diseases; and to form and join unions and strike.

Ray McGovern:  Behind the Crimea/Russia Reunion    :  Information Clearing House - ICH

Ray McGovern:  Behind the Crimea/Russia Reunion    :  Information Clearing House - ICHMarch 20, 2016 "Information Clearing House" - With high symbolism Russian President Vladimir Putin is visiting Crimea “to check on the construction of the Kerch Strait Bridge, which will link the Crimean peninsula and continental Russia,” the Kremlin announced on Thursday.

As the Russians like to say, “It is no accident” that he chose today – marking the second anniversary of Russia’s annexation of Crimea three weeks after the U.S.-sponsored coup in Kiev on Feb. 22, 2014, and just days after a referendum in which Crimean voters approved leaving Ukraine and rejoining Russia by a 96 percent majority. The 12-mile bridge is a concrete metaphor, so to speak, for the re-joining of Crimea and Russia. When completed (the target is December 2018), it will be the longest bridge in Russia.
Yet, the Obama administration continues to decry the political reunion between Crimea and Russia, a relationship that dates back to the Eighteenth Century. Instead, the West has accused Russia of violating its pledge in the 1994 Budapest agreement — signed by Ukraine, Russia, Great Britain and the U.S. — “to respect the independence and sovereignty and existing borders of Ukraine,” in exchange for Ukraine surrendering its Soviet-era nuclear weapons.

Article: To Cuba with Hate | OpEdNews

Article: To Cuba with Hate | OpEdNews: The CIA's motto might well be: "Proudly overthrowing the Cuban government since 1959." Now what? Did you think that the United States had finally grown up and come to the realization that they could in fact share the same hemisphere as the people of Cuba, accepting Cuban society as unquestioningly as they do that of Canada?

The Washington Post (Feb. 18) reported: "In recent weeks, administration officials have made it clear Obama would travel to Cuba only if its government made additional concessions in the areas of human rights, Internet access and market liberalization."

Imagine if Cuba insisted that the United States make "concessions in the area of human rights"; this could mean the United States pledging to not repeat anything like the following:

“I am not even an atheist so much as an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. Reviewing the false claims of religion I do not wish, as some sentimental materialists affect to wish, that they were true. I do not envy believers their faith. I am relieved to think that the whole story is a sinister fairy tale; life would be miserable if what the faithful affirmed was actually true.... There may be people who wish to live their lives under cradle-to-grave divine supervision, a permanent surveillance and monitoring. But I cannot imagine anything more horrible or grotesque.”

"Who among us can be happy and proud of having all this innocent blood on our hands? Who are these swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid little rich kids like George Bush? They are the same ones who wanted to have Muhammad Ali locked up for refusing to kill gooks. They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and vicious in the American character. They are the racists and hate mongers among us; they are the Ku Klux Klan. I piss down the throats of these Nazis. "I look at it this way... For centuries now, man has done everything he can to destroy, defile, and interfere with nature: clear-cutting forests, strip-mining mountains, poisoning the atmosphere, over-fishing the oceans, polluting the rivers and lakes, destroying wetlands and aquifers... so when nature strikes back, and smacks him on the head and kicks him in the nuts, I enjoy that. I have absolutely no sympathy for human beings whatsoever. None. And no matter what kind of problem humans are facing, whether it's natural or man-made, I always hope it gets worse."--George Carlin

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience. Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running and robbing the country. That's our problem.": -Howard Zinn

I knew the dark heart of America.

"The illusion of freedom [in America] will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. "Prayer seems to me a cry of weakness, and an attempt to avoid, by trickery, the rules of the game as laid down. I do not choose to admit weakness. I accept the challenge of responsibility. Life, as it is, does not frighten me, since I have made my peace with the universe as I find it, and bow to its laws... It seems to me that organized creeds are collections of words around a wish. I feel no need for such. I know that nothing is destructible; things merely change forms. When the consciousness we know as life ceases, I know that I shall still be part and parcel of the world. I was a part before the sun rolled into shape and burst forth in the glory of change. I was, when the earth was hurled out from its fiery rim. I shall return with the earth to Father Sun, and still exist in substance when the sun has lost its fire, and disintegrated into infinity to perhaps become a part of the whirling rubble of space. "Do not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life.It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your Honor. That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant,self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse."-Mark Twain

"Although it is true that only about 20 percent of American workers are in unions, that 20 percent sets the standards across the board in salaries, benefits and working conditions. If you are making a decent salary in a non-union company, you owe that to the unions. One thing that corporations do not do is give out money out of the goodness of their hearts."-Molly Ivins

"The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance." - Carl Sagan
