Article: Abolition of United States Military Bases Around the World | OpEdNews

Article: Abolition of United States Military Bases Around the World | OpEdNewsI am honored to speak at this symposium in Okinawa about the need to abolish United States military bases around the world, and particularly here in Okinawa where you have been subjected to these bases for over 70 years following World War II.

From the beginning, let me state that I apologize for the continuing presence of so many U.S. bases on Okinawa and the trauma they have caused to the people of Okinawa.

I worked for nearly 40 years in the United States government. I served 29 years in the U.S. Army/Army Reserves and retired as a Colonel. I was also a U.S. diplomat for 16 years and served in U.S. Embassies in Nicaragua, Grenada, Somalia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Sierra Leone, Micronesia, Afghanistan and Mongolia.

However, in March 2003, I was one of three U.S. government employees who resigned in opposition to President Bush's war on Iraq. Since then I, as well as everyone on our Veterans for Peace delegation, have been publicly challenging policies of the Bush and Obama administrations on a variety of international and domestic issues including extraordinary rendition, unlawful imprisonment, torture, assassin drones, police brutality, mass incarceration, and U.S. military bases around the world, including of course, the U.S. military bases here on Okinawa

LISTEN: New Mexico’s Republican governor harasses cops after hotel party draws noise complaint

Comments at the end tell the story.

LISTEN: New Mexico’s Republican governor harasses cops after hotel party draws noise complaintw Mexico Gov. Susana Martínez (R) attempted to badger police dispatchers after a holiday party last weekend held at a Santa Fe hotel drew a noise complaint, KOB-TV reported.

Authorities released audio on Friday of Martínez asking a dispatcher who called in the complaint. When the dispatcher says they cannot release that information, she replies, “Why can you not? It’s public record, give it to me.”

The audio also captures a conversation between the governor and a second person who will not tell her who complained about the gathering.

“Oh, you can tell the police but you won’t tell me?” Martínez says. “I’ll get it from the cops.”

Article: You Want War? Russia is Ready for War | OpEdNews

Article: You Want War? Russia is Ready for War | OpEdNewsNobody needs to read Zbigniew "Grand Chessboard" Brzezinski's 1997 opus to know US foreign policy revolves around one single overarching theme: prevent -- by all means necessary -- the emergence of a power, or powers, capable of constraining Washington's unilateral swagger, not only in Eurasia but across the world.
The Pentagon carries the same message embedded in newspeak: the Full Spectrum Dominance doctrine.

Syria is leading all these assumptions to collapse like a house of cards. So no wonder in a Beltway under no visible chain of command -- the Obama administration barely qualifies as lame duck -- angst is the norm.

The Pentagon is now engaged in a Vietnam-style escalation of boots on the ground across "Syraq." Fifty commandos are already in northern Syria "advising" the YPG Syrian Kurds as well as a few "moderate" Sunnis. Translation: telling them what Washington wants them to do. The official White House spin is that these commandos "support local forces" (Obama's words) in cutting off supply lines leading to the fake "Caliphate" capital, Raqqa.

It’s Time to Stop “Supporting Our Troops”  :  Information Clearing House - ICH"Over the long haul, supporting our troops has resulted in the United States being the most warring, aggressive nation on earth, bar none. As we’re about to enter 2016, our ultraviolent country will be killing other human beings somewhere on this planet for 223 out of the last 240 total years the US has been in existence. That’s 93% of our time as a nation-turned-Empire we’ve been destroying human life. That’s certainly nothing to be proud of. Yet it’s “our troops” who’ve been the murdering culprit. No compassionate, rational person could possibly place blindly obedient support behind such rampantly wanton disregard and contempt for fellow human life."

Article: Animal, Worker and Environmental Abuse? Tyson Tops The List | OpEdNews

Article: Animal, Worker and Environmental Abuse? Tyson Tops The List | OpEdNews"If you eat chicken from Tyson Foods, you may be unknowingly supporting some of the worst animal abuse, including birds bred to grow so fast they're in constant pain, extreme violence by desensitized workers, and gruesome deaths at the slaughterhouse," said the 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin this week.

He is right. Since 2003 when whistle-blower Virgil Butler at the Tyson's Grannis, Arkansas plant exposed birds regularly scalded alive through recent cruelty exposes by Mercy For Animals, the animal abuse at Tyson is brazen and undeterred by exposes.

But animal abuse is only part of Tyson's abusive track record. There is also worker and environmental abuse, abuse of consumers through risky products and charges of wrongdoing at the state and federal level.

World War III: Why Russia will bury the West | The Vineyard of the Saker

World War III: Why Russia will bury the West | The Vineyard of the SakerIn June 2014, the Pentagon conducted a “table top” exercise – a sort of war game between Russia and NATO. The scenario was Russian pressure on NATO member Estonia and Latvia. Would NATO be able to defend those countries?

“The results were dispiriting,” Julia Ioffe writes in Foreign Policy. Even if all US and NATO troops stationed in Europe were dispatched to the Baltics – including the 82nd Airborne, which is supposed to be ready to go on 24 hours’ notice – the US would lose.

“We just don’t have those forces in Europe,” explains a senior US general. “Then there’s the fact that the Russians have the world’s best surface-to-air missiles and are not afraid to use heavy artillery.”

The Russian ‘victory’ was not a one-off. The Americans conducted the exercise as many as 16 times, under various scenarios, all favourable to NATO, always with the same conclusion. The Russians were simply invincible.

Article: If This is Not "Newsworthy, What Is?" | OpEdNews

Article: If This is Not "Newsworthy, What Is?" | OpEdNewsThe 24-hour coverage of the terrible massacre in France only ended with the beginning of the nonstop coverage of the San Bernardino murders, and we will be inundated with nonstop coverage until the next headliner occurs. It is truly amazing what gets covered with round the clock intensity, and it is even more amazing what does not get coverage.

So you decide which of the two following stories should get intensive media coverage. On the one hand, use the current San Bernardino story, horrific as it is. On the other hand, imagine a "terrorist" attacks a hospital, kills doctors, nurses, and patients, and then runs outside. When survivors try to flee, the "terrorist" waits for them and kills those who trying to flee the disaster. For the sake of illustration, let's assume the number of dead and wounded in the hospital terrorist attack is double that of San Bernardino. Should one story get more coverage than the other? Should the hospital terrorist attacker be completely ignored by media, while the San Bernardino massacre gets nonstop coverage? Have you read or heard anything about the terrorist hospital attacker?? No! Why is that?

Week Nine of the Russian Intervention in Syria: The Empire Strikes Back | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

Week Nine of the Russian Intervention in Syria: The Empire Strikes Back | Global Research - Centre for Research on GlobalizationOn November 24th the Turkish Airforce did something absolutely unprecedented in recent history: it deliberately shot down another country’s military aircraft even though it was absolutely obvious that this aircraft presented no threat whatsoever to Turkey or the Turkish people. The Russian Internet is full of more or less official leaks about how this was done. According to these versions, the Turks maintained 12 F-16 on patrol along the border ready to attack, they were guided by AWACS aircraft and “covered” by USAF F-15s in case of an immediate Russian counter-attack. Maybe. Maybe not. But this hardly matters because what is absolutely undeniable is that the USA and NATO immediately took “ownership” of this attack by giving their full support to Turkey.

Fear Is the Name of the Game  :  Information Clearing House - ICH

Fear Is the Name of the Game  :  Information Clearing House - ICHPresident Obama announced, “We do not succumb to fear.”

What did he mean with his use of the pronoun “we”?

He’s got to be talking about the military and the CIA — i.e., the national-security establishment — which undoubtedly will not be afraid to drop more bombs in the Middle East and kill more people in that part of the world.

He certainly can’t be talking about the American people. They are among the most frightened people in the world! They succumbed to fear a long time ago, on a permanent, ongoing basis.

Think back to the 9/11 attacks, when most every American was terrified that the al-Qaeda terrorists were coming to get them. That’s how Americans ended up living under a government with emergency totalitarian powers, including the power of the Pentagon, the CIA, and the NSA to arrest Americans, put them into military dungeons and concentration camps, secretly spy on them, and even assassinate them, all without trial by jury or due process of law.

Putin Accuses Obama Of Leaking Flight Details To Turkey After Russia    :  Information Clearing House - ICHAs reported two days ago, one of the first decisions a very angry Russia took in the aftermath of the shooting down of its Su-24 by a Turkish F-16 was to dispatch a Moskva guided-missile cruiser off the coast of Syria to provide air cover for its jets operating near Latakia, as well as send an unknown number of ultramodern S-400 (or SA-21 Growler in NATO designation) SAM batteries to Latakia to make sure that the tragic incident from Tuesday never repeats itself by sending Turkey a very clear message that the next time a Turkish warplane engages a Russian jet, Russia will immediate retaliate using ground forces.

Earlier today, Russia made a very explicit demonstration of the deployment of at least two S-400 batteries at Syria's Khmeimim airbase, with the Russian Ministry of Defense promptly publicizing the arrival with the following clip.

Article: Will The Matrix Prevail? | OpEdNews

Article: Will The Matrix Prevail? | OpEdNewsThe Paris attack is playing out as I expected. The French government is attacking French civil liberty with legislation similar to the US PATRIOT Act. Readers in France have informed me that 84% of the French people, according to a poll, are content to be spied upon as long as it keeps them safe. This means that only 16% of the French nation is not brain dead.

Another reader informs me that a TV news station read a letter left behind by one of the alleged ISIL bombers, a letter written in perfect English. Really! I mean, Really! Those with their secret agendas know how stupid the Western peoples are, collectively a hopeless basket case.

Hillary Clinton is on wrong side of everything: Stop telling me I have to vote for her because of the Supreme Court - Salon.com

Hillary Clinton is on wrong side of everything: Stop telling me I have to vote for her because of the Supreme Court - Salon.comFirst and foremost, the latest unscientific poll out of Western Illinois University has Bernie Sanders winning the presidency. Therefore, if polls are gospel, we’ll have a Democrat in the White House who plans on fixing the structural issues plaguing Wall Street and the U.S. economy. With Sanders, we’ll have an honest attempt at breaking up “Too Big to Fail” banks, reinstating Glass-Steagall, and tackling wealth inequality. Perhaps one reason WIU predicts Sanders winning the presidency is that Vermont’s senator has more than 1 million online donors who’ve funded his campaign. No need for prison lobbyists, like his challenger Hillary Clinton, and no need for a super PAC.

Veteran's Day: A Time To Honor Duped Murderers? :  Information Clearing House

Veteran's Day: A Time To Honor Duped Murderers? :  Information Clearing HouseWhen one is called to defend one's home and family, it is not really courage that is required, it is a sense of duty. If my home is under attack, if my family is in danger, it is proper and fitting that I defend them and not expect someone else to put their life at risk for my home and family.

When one is called to defend one's nation, the same sense of duty is conjured. Unfortunately, the calls to defend this nation have been issued on false information in EVERY WAR THE US EVER FOUGHT. The delusion that the US military is defending our home and our nation can be put to the lie with one simple fact: You do not defend your home by going next door and killing your neighbor. That is what our military does. There has never been a war, defending from foreign aggressors, the land that we call "ours" since we "won" independence from England (and stole from the Native Americans and Mexicans, but that is another topic.)

Article: Vladimir Putin Speaks Honestly | OpEdNews

Article: Vladimir Putin Speaks Honestly | OpEdNewsRussia's president is a refreshing contrast to the liars who inhabit Western governments and Western media. The agenda of the Russian government is peace and international cooperation under the rule of law. Washington's agenda is hegemony.

President Putin endeavors to lead the world to peace, while the neoconservatives who control Washington's foreign policy try to drive the world to war. Contrast the crazed statements that flow from Washington comparing President Putin to Hitler, suggesting his assassination, and calling for shooting down Russian military aircraft -- with President Putin's appeal that Washington abandon its hegemonic agenda and submit to international law and international cooperation. As President Putin has emphasized, for Washington "international cooperation" means submission to Washington's will.

Hundreds suffered from toxic tear gas inhalation. Maan News said “Israeli forces used Palestine TV reporter and cameraman Sira Sarhan and Hadi al-Dibs as human shields…forcing them at gunpoint to remain in front of their Jeep and tell protesters to stop throwing rocks.”

Article: Presstitutes At Their Work | OpEdNews

Article: Presstitutes At Their Work | OpEdNewshe Western media has only two tools. One is the outrageous lie. This overused tool no longer works, except on dumbshit Americans.

The pinpoint accuracy of the Russian cruise missiles and air attacks has the Pentagon shaking in its boots. But according to the Western presstitutes the Russian missiles fell out of the sky over Iran and never made it to their ISIS targets.

According to the presstitute reports, the Russian air attacks have only killed civilians and blew up a hospital.

The presstitutes fool only themselves and dumbshit Americans.

The other tool used by presstitutes is to discuss a problem with no reference to its causes. Yesterday I heard a long discussion on NPR, a corporate and Israeli owned propaganda organ, about the migrant problem in Europe. Yes, migrants, not refugees.

Our beloved America is dividing again in two Americas. Our struggle is for nothing less than the soul of our country. We want an America that is respected in the commonwealth of man; we want our values to shine like a beacon around the world. As an American of conscience, I hereby declare my independence from every bomb dropped; every threat leveled, every civil liberties rollback, every child killed every veteran maimed every man tortured. And I sadly declare my independence from the leaders who let it happen.”

Article: The Empire of Chaos is in a Jam | OpEdNews

Article: The Empire of Chaos is in a Jam | OpEdNewsNATO is desperate. The Pentagon is desperate. Imagine waking up one day in Washington and Brussels just to realize Russia has the ability to electronically jam -- detect, trace, disable, destroy -- NATO electronics within a 600 km range across Syria (and southern Turkey).

Imagine the nightmare of row after row of Russian Richag-AV radar and sonar jamming systems mounted on helicopters and ships jamming everything in sight and finding every available source of electromagnetic radiation. Not only in Syria but also in Ukraine.

Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, commander of U.S. Army units in Europe, was even forced to qualify Russian electronic warfare capabilities in Ukraine as "eye-watering."

For their part, caught in the crossfire as sitting ducks or headless chickens, that mighty ideological aircraft carrier known as the USS Think Tankland was left dabbling with the four options left for Washington to "achieve its goals" in Syria.

Reclaiming the Media Narrative After Russian Intervention in Syria — by Russell O’PhobeDear Friends and Colleagues,

You will recall that I wrote to you back in September with my Primer on the art of writing Russian scare stories. I had felt it necessary to write back then in order to make sure that you were all on-message, and to give you the confidence and the tools you need to maintain the narrative that many of us have been working hard to get across over the last couple of years or so.

And no mistake, much has been accomplished. I know that many of you have been labouring hard to ensure your readers are fed a steady diet of reports on “Russian aggression” and “Russian invasions”.

America’s War on Syria: Russia’s Fantasy “Stray Missiles” versus America’s Real Ones. | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

America’s War on Syria: Russia’s Fantasy “Stray Missiles” versus America’s Real Ones. | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization“Any time bombs are used to target innocent civilians it is an act of terrorism.”- Barack Obama, 15th February 2013.
Even to those who do not watch closely it has to be apparent that Washington’s vast disinformation machine is finally out of control, seriously awry, or desperate.

The latest foray in apparent media manipulation was the claim (1) by US “anonymous sources” that four Russian missiles targeting terrorist groups in Syria, landed in Iran.

US Administrations are serial repeaters of untruths. However talking of stray missiles after bombing a Médecins Sans Frontières hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan under a week before – when coordinates of the buildings had been confirmed to US authorities again just prior to the attack – then changing the story as to how it happened four times in less days, is skating on wafer thin ice.

Article: Kunduz hospital attack was no mistake: US Dispatched a Murderous AC-130 Airborne Gunship to Attack a Hospital | OpEdNews

Article: Kunduz hospital attack was no mistake: US Dispatched a Murderous AC-130 Airborne Gunship to Attack a Hospital | OpEdNewsEvidence continues to mount that the US committed a monstrous war crime in attacking and destroying a fully operational hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan on the night of Oct. 3, killing at least 22 people including at least 12 members of the volunteer medical staff of Medicine Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), the French based international aid organization that operated the hospital.

This even as the US desperately tries to bury the issue of its perfidy by offering "condolence payments" to victims of the attack, though without accepting blame beyond saying it was a "tragic mistake."

The "mistake" claim looks increasingly shameless as it becomes clear that this was not, as the US corporate media continue to incorrectly report, a "bombing" gone wrong, but rather was a prolonged hour-long attack by an AC-130 gunship, the deadliest killing machine in the US Air Force's weapons catalogue. The aircraft, equipped with the latest night-vision sighting equipment, reportedly made five 15-minute assaults on the hospital's main building housing the emergency operating room and recovery rooms, firing its array of howitzer cannons, 30 millimeter machine canons and other heavy weapons that included both high-explosive tips and anti-personnel rounds designed to scatter death in a wide pattern.

Moscow has a competent team; Washington has ??? Putin, Medvedev, Ivanov, Shoigu, Lavrov. On the other side… well, you fill in the names. The proof is that Russia has risen from a negligible position in 2000 to one that sets a lot of the agenda.

Lies and Truth: Obama’s UN General Assembly Speech Dissected | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalizationo those who bothered to listen to President Obama’s UN General Assembly speech without falling asleep like Secretary John Kerry clearly wished to do, there was a stark contrast to that speech which followed from the Russian President. First before Barack Obama completed his first sentence we could feel his emotion. It was projecting a contempt and arrogance of a special variety: “We have the biggest, baddest military; we call the shots, you peons of the nations of the world.”

Going through the official Obama text it’s difficult to find even one sentence where he speaks honestly. It’s an example not of grey propaganda but black. I cite several of the most egregious instances.

Article: The NATO-Russia face off in Syria | OpEdNewsAccused of being a witch, an Air Force contractor working at a dental clinic at Fort Meade, Maryland, has been fired. Seriously.

Deborah Schoenfeld, a dental technician at the clinic, and a Hindu, was fired on September 2, immediately after filing a formal complaint about the religious harassment she was being forced to endure, which included being accused of witchcraft, bringing demons into the office, and being admonished that practicing yoga is "satanic" and will "cost (her) her soul." The alleged reason given for her firing was that she was accused of using profanity in the workplace. She was told, however, that she did not have the right to know who her accusers were.

According to the Air Force Times, two of Schoenfeld's former co-workers have confirmed her account of the workplace harassment she was subjected to by the devout Christians there, with one saying that she was referred to as a "Hindu witch."

Schoenfeld, who wishes to return to her job, has turned to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), which has sent the following letter to the commander of this modern day Salem, where we hope they aren't also using the dental practices of 1692 on our troops.

America occupies the planet: The grim realities of our endless War on Terror - Salon.comAs distinct from other peoples, most Americans do not recognize — or do not want to recognize — that the United States dominates the world through its military power. Due to government secrecy, our citizens are often ignorant of the fact that our garrisons encircle the planet. This vast network of American bases on every continent except Antarctica actually constitutes a new form of empire — an empire of bases with its own geography not likely to be taught in any high school geography class. Without grasping the dimensions of this globe-girdling Baseworld, one can’t begin to understand the size and nature of our imperial aspirations or the degree to which a new kind of militarism is undermining our constitutional order.

This is What an Arrest for a Bicycle Helmet "Violation" Looks Like in a Police State - informationliberation

This is What an Arrest for a Bicycle Helmet "Violation" Looks Like in a Police State - informationliberation

By Mike Sawyer

Los Angeles, CA — A video uploaded to Facebook last week shows the ridiculous nature of the American police state.

According to the video uploader, the police in the video below came to this house because they saw a teenager riding his bike with no hands and without a helmet. Not wanting to be kidnapped or killed, the teenager rode his bike home after he saw the police.

When police showed up, you’d think they were responding to a bank robbery or child kidnapping. However, the half-dozen public servants were only there to extort money from a child for not wearing a helmet.

During the standoff, the family knew that their child was going to be kidnapped by police, so they initially refused to hand him over. After several threats, however, the boy would eventually come outside.

The officers blatantly lied to the family, saying only that they wanted him to come outside to receive his citation for no helmet. But after walking out, he’s immediately placed in cuffs and put into a patrol car.

The video below represents the epitome of everything wrong with police in America today. We see men gunned down, shot in the back by cops over a broken tail light. We see children, murdered by officers who wrongly raided a home in search of an arbitrary substance.

The reality is that this boy’s very life was in jeopardy — over a bicycle helmet.

Article: Neocons to Americans: Trust Us Again | OpEdNews

Article: Neocons to Americans: Trust Us Again | OpEdNewsAmerica's neocons insist that their only mistake was falling for some false intelligence about Iraq's WMD and that they shouldn't be stripped of their powerful positions of influence for just one little boo-boo. That's the point of view taken by Washington Post editorial page editor Fred Hiatt as he whines about the unfairness of applying "a single-interest litmus test," i.e., the Iraq War debacle, to judge him and his fellow war boosters.

After noting that many other important people were on the same pro-war bandwagon with him, Hiatt criticizes President Barack Obama for citing the Iraq War as an argument not to listen to many of the same neocons who now are trying to sabotage the Iran nuclear agreement. Hiatt thinks it's the height of unfairness for Obama or anyone else to suggest that people who want to kill the Iran deal -- and thus keep alive the option to bomb-bomb-bomb Iran -- "are lusting for another war."

Hiatt also faults Obama for not issuing a serious war threat to Iran, a missing ultimatum that explains why the nuclear agreement falls "so far short." Hiatt adds: "war is not always avoidable, and the judicious use of force early in a crisis, or even the threat of force, can sometimes forestall worse bloodshed later."

But it should be noted that the neocons -- and Hiatt in particular -- did not simply make one mistake when they joined President George W. Bush's rush to war in 2002-03. They continued with their warmongering in Iraq for years, often bashing the handful of brave souls in Official Washington who dared challenge the neocons' pro-war enthusiasm. Hiatt and his fellow "opinion leaders" were, in effect, the enforcers of the Iraq War "group think" -- and they have never sought to make amends for that bullying.

Article: Chelsea Manning and Hillary Clinton: A Case of Double Standards | OpEdNewsChelsea Manning, the former US Army intelligence officer behind one of the biggest leaks of diplomatic and other sensitive (i.e., embarrassing) material in American history, is facing indefinite solitary confinement at the Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, brig where she is serving a 35-year sentence. Formerly known as Bradley Manning, before her decision to go transgender, Chelsea is charged with four "crimes":

Sweeping food off a table at dinnertime that "almost" hit a correctional officer.

Asking to see her lawyer after being approached by said correctional officer.

Having a copy of the Caitlyn Jenner issue of Vanity Fair, along with other "forbidden" books dealing with transgender issues.

While this last infraction surely is heinous, the other three seem like pure harassment. Sweeping food off a table hardly seems like a very big deal. And what about the "forbidden" reading material, which, in addition to Vanity Fair, apparently consisted of I Am Malala by Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, a novel entitled A Safe Girl to Love, Out Magazine, an issue of Cosmopolitan that featured an interview with Manning, and the US Senate report on torture?

SteveLendmanBlog: John Kerry Lectures Cubans About Democracy

SteveLendmanBlog: John Kerry Lectures Cubans About DemocracyKerry represents US imperial arrogance, rogue state ruthlessness rejecting democracy worldwide - especially at home.

US elections when held are farcical. Ordinary people have no say whatever. Big money-controlled duopoly power rules.

All so-called elections turn out the same way. Business as usual always triumphs. Things go from bad to worse. Neocons infesting Washington threaten world peace.

Alleged US normalization with Cuba is a thinly veiled scheme to recolonize the island state, steal its resources, exploit its people and open its markets without restrictions to US corporate predators.

Votel Promotes False Anti-Russian Narrative | New Eastern Outlook

Votel Promotes False Anti-Russian Narrative | New Eastern OutlookAt a Security Forum sponsored by the wealthy, Madison Avenue-based “Aspen Institute” General Joseph Votel, Head of the US Special Operations Command went on an anti-Russia tirade. His widely circulated comments declared “Russia is looking to challenge us wherever they can…the intent is to create a situation where NATO can’t continue to thrive…” Votel went on to say that Russian President Vladimir Putin, “…as a threat to him and I think what they (Moscow) are attempting to do is create these frozen conflicts and create situations that are very, very difficult to resolve along their border.” Votel further described Russian foreign policy as “coercion and pressure on neighbors along their periphery to meet their particular objectives.”

The U.S.-Russia “phony war”: How Washington warmongers could bring us from stalemate to catastrophe - Salon.comThe Ukraine crisis and the attendant confrontation with Russia assume a “phony war” feel these days. As in the perversely calm months between the German invasion of Poland in September 1939 and the Blitzkrieg into the Low Countries the following spring, nothing much seems to be happening.

No one took comfort then—a fog of anxiety suffused everything—and no one should now. One almost prefers it when Washington politicians and other temporarily important people are out there grandstanding and warmongering. At least part of what is occurring is visible, even as the whole never is. Now one sees almost nothing, and we get an idea of what the historians mean when they describe the queasiness abroad during the phony war period.

Burning Babies and Stabbing Gays in Messianic Israel by Dan Sanchez -- Antiwar.com

Burning Babies and Stabbing Gays in Messianic Israel by Dan Sanchez -- Antiwar.comTerror struck twice in Israel this Thursday.

First, an ultra-Orthodox zealot went on a slashing rampage at the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade, stabbing six, and fatally wounding a 16-year-old girl.

Then, extremist Jewish settlers firebombed the house of a Palestinian Arab family in the West Bank village of Duma, critically wounding three, and burning alive an 18-month-old toddler alive.

On a wall, the arsonists spray painted a Star of David and the Hebrew word for “revenge.” This marks the crime as a “price tag” attack. This is the term used by settlers for attacks meant to, “exact a price… for any action taken against their settlement enterprise,” as Uri Friedman put it in The Atlantic.

Jimmy Carter Is Correct that the U.S. Is No Longer a Democracy Washington's Blog

Jimmy Carter Is Correct that the U.S. Is No Longer a Democracy Washington's BlogOn July 28th, Thom Hartmann interviewed former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and, at the very end of his show (as if this massive question were merely an aftethought), asked him his opinion of the 2010 Citizens United decision and the 2014 McCutcheon decision, both decisions by the five Republican judges on the U.S. Supreme Court. These two historic decisions enable unlimited secret money (including foreign money) now to pour into U.S. political and judicial campaigns. Carter answered:

“It violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for President or being elected President. And the same thing applies to governors, and U.S. Senators and congress members. So, now we’ve just seen a subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect, and sometimes get, favors for themselves after the election is over. … At the present time the incumbents, Democrats and Republicans, look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves. Somebody that is already in Congress has a great deal more to sell.”

Russia Shoots Down “US Stealth Coup”: Tough Times for America’s “Color Revolution” industry. | Global Research - Centre for Research on GlobalizationTimes are tough for America’s “color revolution” industry. Perfected in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Soviet Union, and honed during the so-called “Arab Spring,” the process of backing subversion in a targeted country and overthrowing a sitting government under the cover of staged mass protests appears to be finally at the end of running its course.

That is because the United States can no longer hide the fact that it is behind these protests and often, even hide their role in the armed elements that are brought in covertly to give targeted governments their final push out the door. Nations have learned to identify, expose, and resist this tactic, and like Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime’s tactic of Blitzkrieg or “lighting war,” once appropriate countermeasures are found, the effectiveness of lighting fast, overwhelming force be it military or political, is rendered impotent.

The Fawning, Awestruck Media Can't Cover Washington

The Fawning, Awestruck Media Can't Cover WashingtonYesterday, the BBC published a piece which should not go unnoticed; not as a worthy contribution to political or geopolitical debate, but for its significance in serving as a prime example of why Westerners should be highly skeptical of the British network’s coverage of the Obama presidency.

Jon Sopel, the BBC’s North America Editor, published a write-up of his recent interview with the American president, whom he called, sadly without a hint of irony, the “leader of the free world” — as though we were all living in a game of The Sims 3.

The headline on the piece?

Article: The Eroding Character of the American People | OpEdNews

Article: The Eroding Character of the American People | OpEdNewsAttorney John W. Whitehead opens a recent posting (see below) on his Rutherford Institute website with these words from a song by Bob Dylan. Why don't all of us feel ashamed? Why only Bob Dylan?

I wonder how many of Bob Dylan's fans understand what he is telling them. American justice has nothing to do with innocence or guilt. It only has to do with the prosecutor's conviction rate, which builds his political career. Considering the gullibility of the American people, American jurors are the last people to whom an innocent defendant should trust his fate. The jury will betray the innocent almost every time.

As Lawrence Stratton and I show in our book (2000, 2008) there is no justice in America. We titled our book, "How the Law Was Lost." It is a description of how the protective features in law that made law a shield of the innocent was transformed over time into a weapon in the hands of the government, a weapon used against the people. The loss of law as a shield occurred prior to 9/11, which "our representative government" used to construct a police state.

Kansas Man Facing Felony Murder Charge for Telling an Acquaintance Where he Could Find Marijuana | Alternet

Kansas Man Facing Felony Murder Charge for Telling an Acquaintance Where he Could Find Marijuana | AlternetWichita, KS — Kyler Carriker is a good person. He is a loving husband and a father whose life could be ruined because of the ridiculous nature of the state’s war on drugs.

According to Carriker’s family, on April 17th, 2013, Kyler and a friend had finished work and were headed out to go fishing. They were stopped by a train where they ran into Carriker’s former classmate. Carriker was asked if he could find any “smoke,” meaning marijuana. Carriker said he could try, so they exchanged telephone numbers.

What Carriker didn’t know was that his old classmate from school had since become an active gang member. This former classmate planned to rob Carriker and whomever else was involved in the marijuana transaction.

Kyler Carriker agreed to meet his former classmate at his friend Kyle Belts’ home to introduce his former classmate and the marijuana dealer. However, the former classmate arrived with several other gang members, and later testified in court to the fact that the plan was to rob Carriker, Belts, and Ronald Betts, the marijuana dealer and brother of former Kansas state Senator Donald Betts.

Putin Isolates America – With Obama’s Help

Putin Isolates America – With Obama’s HelpIt’s almost over. My colleague from Holland and I decided in my garden last night, America has been ultimately isolated from most of the rest of the world now.

Barack Obama and a few well placed neocons have managed to accomplish what empires could not. We’re betrayed from within, the world is truly sick and tired of American hegemony and bullying, and a new star is rising to the East, a familiar one by now.

When Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a press conference at the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summits in Ufa the other day, I noticed a familiar smile. Not that I am the Putin analyst mind you, but a visibly tired leader could not hide the unmistakable signs he’d won a substantial victory.

Article: We Are All Greeks Now | OpEdNews

Article: We Are All Greeks Now | OpEdNewsThe poor and the working class in the United States know what it is to be Greek. They know underemployment and unemployment. They know life without a pension. They know existence on a few dollars a day. They know gas and electricity being turned off because of unpaid bills. They know the crippling weight of debt. They know being sick and unable to afford medical care. They know the state seizing their meager assets, a process known in the United States as "civil asset forfeiture," which has permitted American police agencies to confiscate more than $3 billion in cash and property.

They know the profound despair and abandonment that come when schools, libraries, neighborhood health clinics, day care services, roads, bridges, public buildings and assistance programs are neglected or closed. They know the financial elites' hijacking of democratic institutions to impose widespread misery in the name of austerity. They, like the Greeks, know what it is to be abandoned.

Article: Hillary's Neocon Legacy: Coups, Dictators, Corruption, Chaos, Executions and Assassination | OpEdNewsHillary Clinton has on her liberal mask. She is all smiles and is trying hard to "out Bernie" Bernie Sanders. She is hitting all the populist talking points about helping others: Immigration, campaign finance reform, voting rights, gay marriage, economic equality, and middle class families. But she has accumulated a lot of baggage over her political career of 40 years.

Hillary and the main stream media have forgotten early scandals such as Whitewater, cattle futures trading, and trying to take the White House furniture when she and Bill moved out in 2001.

Hillary also now wants to escape responsibility for Bill Clinton's presidency, although she embraced it in 2008. She wants us to forgive her when she nostalgically uses Bill's lingering popularity; after all she is a politician. Just do not bring up slashing welfare, deregulating Wall Street, NAFTA, the Defense of Marriage Act, Don't Ask Don't tell, "Slick Willy", the meaning of "is", and the blue dress.

One year since Israel’s Gaza massacre and ten years since the launch of the BDS movement | BDSmovement.netne year since Israel’s Gaza massacre and ten years since the launch of the BDS movement: building the boycott is more important than ever

A statement from the Palestinian BDS National Committee

One year ago today, Israel launched a brutal military attack on the Palestinian population of the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip. More than 2,200 Palestinians were killed, including 551 children, and more than 10,000 people were seriously injured and hundreds of thousands were made homeless, forcibly displaced and trapped inside Gaza. Deliberate attacks on Palestinian civilians of this kind are part and parcel of an Israeli policy that aims to force Palestinians into submission and to thwart the Palestinian people’s exercise of its right to self-determination.

A country with seemingly limitless natural resources, and according to many politicians, anointed by God herself to lead the world out of the wilderness and into a bright new age of liberty and justice for all. Too bad the road to that vision is pockmarked with so many potholes, because we haven’t raised enough taxes on people who can afford to pay to fill them.

Ghosts of America’s past: Reflections on Independence Day 2015 — RT Op-EdgeIt’s the Fourth of July in America, and gay marriage has just been legalized by a Supreme Court ruling, the Confederate flag is being displayed on public property and Black churches are being set afire.

“If you could separate causes from results, if you could know that Paine, Marx, Jefferson, Lenin were results, not causes, you might survive,” John Steinbeck wrote in “The Grapes of Wrath” (1939).

Meanwhile, the police continue to kill African Americans without accountability. The government has developed flying killer robots that are able to assassinate people from the sky. The National Security Agency is recording the phone calls, emails, and internet activities of millions of US citizens. Beyond American borders, our leaders are psyching us up for bigger confrontations with Russia and China, as US military forces pour into the Pacific.

Sunday Times Snowden Story is Journalism at its Worst
Stephen Colbert captured this exact pathology with untoppable precision in his 2006 White House Correspondents speech, when he mocked American journalism to the faces of those who practice it:

But, listen, let’s review the rules. Here’s how it works. The President makes decisions. He’s the decider. The press secretary announces those decisions, and you people of the press type those decisions down. Make, announce, type. Just put ’em through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kicking around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration? You know, fiction!

In Boston, Media Again Trash a Police Shooting Victim by Uncritically "Reporting" Police Accusations - The InterceptIn the Boston area yesterday, the FBI and Boston Police Department (BPD) shot and killed a 26-year-old black Muslim man, Usaamah Abdullah Rahim, after they stopped him at a bus stop at 7:00 a.m. in front of a CVS drug store in order to question him. Media reports originally claimed that Rahim wielded a “machete” after he was approached by the agents. But after photos emerged showing how laughable that description was, the weapon was changed in subsequent reports to a “military-style black knife” — not just any knife, but a black one.

When he revealed the once-secret fact that the records of all cellphone calls by Americans were collected and stored by the NSA, his hope was to “trigger a debate” over privacy and civil liberties, as he told Glenn Greenwald when he went public in June 2013. He has succeeded.

License to Kill :   Information Clearing House - ICH

License to Kill :   Information Clearing House - ICHThat policemen have a license to kill sounds a somewhat harsh way of stating the obvious. Most of us don’t think about it as, equally obviously, we assume the police to be the warden of order. I say order and not law for two reasons. For one, experience shows that law can be interpreted, stretched and distorted, according to the whims of its judicial interpreters, as we will see later. And two, “law and order” is a formula that glides easily on the tongue, without requiring the intervention of reason. It functions perfectly as a verbal jingle and is an indispensable weapon in the verbal armory of the electable. Avoiding its utterance implies unelectability.

But when misused, overused or abused, the lexicon seeks revenge. In the instance, “law and order” has fostered and created at large, a progressively regressive mode of thought, and triggered a competition, among the electable and the elected, about who is first in “law and order.” It is well known that America has, proportionally, the largest prison population in the world. And thanks to another judicial and equally rhythmical formula, “three strikes and you are out”, there are extant cases of people condemned to life in prison for shoplifting a loaf of bread at the supermarket. It would be hard to dispute the correlation between the formula, the results and the mode of thought.

Japanese Nationalism: Decoy for American Imperialism? :   Information Clearing House - ICHMay 25, 2015 "Information Clearing House" - "RT" - As the government of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe seeks to amend the country’s US-drafted constitution, granting the Tokyo’s military the power to wage war, some fear the return of old imperialistic tendencies.

Japan is ready to change its post-war pacifist constitution; it is rapidly arming itself to the teeth, building battleships and purchasing fighter jets. Recruitment posters are everywhere. Meanwhile, Japan is standing - obediently and loyally - by its occupier and closest ally, the United States.

In light of the situation, one has to wonder what is really ‘nationalist’ about Abe? His loyalties appear to lie towards the West, particularly the United States. Definitely not towards his own country and the Asian continent.

Putin's 15 Years in Power:   Information Clearing House - ICH

Putin's 15 Years in Power:   Information Clearing House - ICH In the US, PBS recently ran a documentary depicting Putin as beyond evil - a thieving, murdering, democracy-smashing jerk who then invaded Ukraine. German state TV ran one with an almost identical story line just a few weeks ago.

We keep telling people - those western versions of Putin are simply not true, and amount to the crudest form of character assassination. So now here is the antidote. We would advise everyone to watch both versions and draw their own conclusions. Once you dig into the facts, it becomes pretty obvious who is BSing, and who isn’t.

We think, and we keep telling everyone this, that Putin has done a remarkably good job running his country, and seems to be a very admirable man. It’s hard to disagree with this after watching this movie. - Russia Insider

Article: William And Mary Honors War Criminal | OpEdNewsNothing better illustrates the extent to which the United States has turned its back on the rule of law than when the likes of Condoleezza Rice are asked to address graduates and receive doctoral degrees honoris causa at university commencements. Ms. Rice -- in my view a war criminal -- was accorded those honors Saturday by the College of William and Mary, the second-oldest college in the U.S.

Unlike Rice's other university appearances in recent years, there was not the slightest sign of unhappiness, let alone protest. Most of the graduating seniors were not yet 10 years old in 2003 when Rice played a key role helping President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney launch a war of aggression against Iraq. So, the graduates' ignorance may perhaps be understandable, but it does not speak well for their grasp of recent history.

The Episcopalian-turned-Roman Catholic Jeb Bush has puzzlingly refrained from following in their footsteps, but that he gave this year’s commencement address at that stronghold of unreason and superstitious darkness, the Jerry Falwell-founded Liberty University, the site of the Southern Baptist Ted Cruz’s announcement in late March, augurs ill for rationalists and other sane folk. Seymour M. Hersh · The Killing of Osama bin Laden · LRB 21 May 2015It’s been four years since a group of US Navy Seals assassinated Osama bin Laden in a night raid on a high-walled compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The killing was the high point of Obama’s first term, and a major factor in his re-election. The White House still maintains that the mission was an all-American affair, and that the senior generals of Pakistan’s army and Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) were not told of the raid in advance. This is false, as are many other elements of the Obama administration’s account.

V-Day Shows that Europe's Leaders are Washington's Flunkies

V-Day Shows that Europe's Leaders are Washington's FlunkiesToday Russia is celebrating Victory Day, marking 70 years since the defeat of Nazi Germany.

Much has been made of the West’s decision to boycott the Moscow events, but ultimately, it amounts to an incomprehensible snub to the Soviet people, without whom the war would most certainly never have been won.

It is one thing for the US to boycott the event. The war affected America only minimally compared to other nations. There is very little real emotion attached to this day in the United States – and what emotion does exist, is usually attached to an arrogant and false claim that the US won the war for Europe.

In reality, there was no battle equivalent to or more decisive than the battle for Europe on the Eastern Front. An unimaginable 27 million Soviets died defeating Hitler’s Germany. It’s estimated that 80% of men born in the USSR in 1923 did not survive the war.

Article: No Tax For Death | OpEdNews"Note: Following is the letter I mailed to the IRS a few days before tax day about my reasons for not paying federal income tax. This is the first year since leaving the military that I have had taxable income, otherwise I would have done this sooner. Working under-the-table is a much simpler form of protest, and perhaps no less effective, but it also involves no risk and no sacrifice. I am no longer protesting in silence. This is not a symbolic gesture either; I am not paying one penny in federal tax, but instead donating every cent of it to charity. I do not think any less of my family, friends, and neighbors for continuing to pay taxes, however I urge you to consider exactly how those hard earned dollars of yours are being spent. They're certainly not being spent in our communities. We all deserve better."

Article: Assange: How "The Guardian" Milked Edward Snowden's Story | OpEdNewsWikiLeaks founder Julian Assange investigates the book behind Snowden, Oliver Stone's forthcoming film starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Nicolas Cage, Scott Eastwood and Zachary Quinto. According to leaked Sony emails, movie rights for the book were bought for $700,000.

The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man(Guardian/Faber & Faber, 2014) by Luke Harding is a hack job in the purest sense of the term. Pieced together from secondary sources and written with minimal additional research to be the first to market, the book's thrifty origins are hard to miss.

The Guardian is a curiously inward-looking beast. If any other institution tried to market its own experience of its own work nearly as persistently as The Guardian, it would surely be called out for institutional narcissism. But because The Guardian is an embarrassingly central institution within the moribund "left-of-center" wing of the U.K. establishment, everyone holds their tongue.

In recent years, we have seen The Guardian consult itself into cinematic history -- in the Jason Bourne films and others -- as a hip, ultra-modern, intensely British newspaper with a progressive edge, a charmingly befuddled giant of investigative journalism with a cast-iron spine.

April 21, 2015 "Information Clearing House" - "Tom Dispatch" - " Six people lay lifeless in the filthy brown water.

It was 5:09 a.m. when their Toyota Land Cruiser plunged off a bridge in the West African country of Mali. For about two seconds, the SUV sailed through the air, pirouetting 180 degrees as it plunged 70 feet, crashing into the Niger River.

Three of the dead were American commandos. The driver, a captain nicknamed “Whiskey Dan,” was the leader of a shadowy team of operatives never profiled in the media and rarely mentioned even in government publications. One of the passengers was from an even more secretive unit whose work is often integral to Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), which conducts clandestine kill-and-capture missions overseas. Three of the others weren’t military personnel at all or even Americans. They were Moroccan women alternately described as barmaids or "prostitutes."

“I told you I didn’t want my face in that shit,” he says.

“Even if your face is shown, how would somebody come after you?” Cabral asks.

“You’d be surprised who knows me,” Torres insists.

The blackness lifts. Torres is dressed in a chef’s apron and a white headscarf, making hot dogs at an amateur basketball game, as if he were an all-American guy.

NBC's Conduct in Engel Kidnapping Story is More Troubling than the Brian Williams Scandal - The Intercept

NBC's Conduct in Engel Kidnapping Story is More Troubling than the Brian Williams Scandal - The InterceptThroughout 2012, numerous American factions were pushing for U.S. intervention in Syria to bring down the regime of Bashar Assad, who throughout the War on Terror had helped the U.S. in all sorts of ways, including torturing people for them. But by then, Assad was viewed mostly as an ally of Iran, and deposing him would weaken Tehran, the overarching regional strategy of the U.S. and its allies. The prevailing narrative was thus created that those fighting against Assad were “moderate” and even pro-western groups, with the leading one dubbed “the Free Syrian Army.”

Whether to intervene in Syria in alliance with or on behalf of the “Free Syrian Army” was a major debate in the west through the end of that year. Then-Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee John Kerry was openly discussing ways for the U.S. to aid the rebels to bring about regime change. Senator Joe Lieberman was saying: “I hope the international community and the U.S. will provide assistance to the Syrian Free Army in the various ways we can.” Then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, while ruling out direct military intervention, said: “[W]e have to redouble our efforts outside of the United Nations with those allies and partners who support the Syrian people’s right to have a better future.”

Religious Fanaticism is a Huge Factor in Americans' Support for Israel - The Intercept

Religious Fanaticism is a Huge Factor in Americans' Support for Israel - The InterceptAlmost half of all Americans want to support Israel even if its interests diverge from the interests of their own country. Only a minority of Americans (47 percent) say that their country should pursue their own interests over supporting Israel’s when the two choices collide. It’s the ultimate violation of George Washington’s 1796 Farewell Address warning that “nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded. … The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave.”

Seven Things You Didn’t Know the U.S. and Its Allies Did to Iran - The Intercept

Seven Things You Didn’t Know the U.S. and Its Allies Did to Iran - The InterceptIt’s hard for some Americans to understand why the Obama administration is so determined to come to an agreement with Iran on its nuclear capability, given that huge Iranian rallies are constantly chanting “Death to America!” I know the chanting makes me unhappy, since I’m part of America, and I strongly oppose me dying.

But if you know our actual history with Iran, you can kind of see where they’re coming from. They have understandable reasons to be angry at and frightened of us — things we’ve done that if, say, Norway had done them to us, would have us out in the streets shouting “Death to Norway!” Unfortunately, not only have the U.S. and our allies done horrendous things to Iran, we’re not even polite enough to remember it.

How Google AdSense Censors the News   :    Information Clearing House - ICH

How Google AdSense Censors the News   :    Information Clearing House - ICHApril 03, 2015 "ICH" - "American Conservative" - Is Google trying to censor news it deems “inappropriate” for public consumption?

That’s what the editors of several news websites are asking after recent tussles with Google AdSense, the online advertising behemoth that generates revenue for publishers by placing third-party “pay per click” or “pay per impression” ads on their sites. Publishers need only sit back and collect the checks, which can add up to thousands of dollars a month, depending on traffic.

AdSense brings in about $13 billion a year to Google’s coffers, about 24 percent of its overall revenue. According to its fourth-quarter earnings report in January, Google earned $3.72 billion in the last months of FY2014 from ads appearing on its network partners’ websites. In 2011, the company said it paid 68 percent of ad revenue back to the sites that participate in AdSense. All added up, that’s a lot of cash.

Until, of course, a publisher runs afoul of Google’s Terms and Conditions. Google says it tries to guarantee its advertisers that their ads will only be displayed on “family-friendly” websites. That includes a strict prohibition on “violent content,” a rule the company says is applied across the board—and is apparently blind to context.

CHUCKMAN'S CHOICE OF WORDS

CHUCKMAN'S CHOICE OF WORDSIt really does not get more uninformed and deliberately provocative than "U.S. Threatens Sanctions Against Israel, Makes Excuses for Iran."

This stuff reads like an official news release from the old Politburo.

There is no need for excuses for Iran. It has done absolutely nothing requiring excuses.

It hasn't attacked anyone in its modern history, is a member of the international treaty on nuclear weapons permitting inspections, and every intelligence service, including Israel’s, knows it has not been trying to build a bomb.

The genuine madman running Israel, on the other hand, has yelled for years that Iran is building a bomb, going against his own intelligence service. The madman just won re-election by promising no state for the Palestinians, so presumably five million people will be kept without any rights or votes forever? Or perhaps expelled in a future massive ethnic cleansing?

An Iraqi Holocaust:  12th Anniversary Of Illegal Iraq Invasion – 2.7 Million Iraqi Dead From Violence Or War-imposed Deprivation    :    Information Clearing House - ICH

Those with consciences recently marked the 12th anniversary on 19 March 2015 of the illegal and war criminal US, UK and Australian invasion of Iraq in 2003 that was based on false assertions of Iraqi possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction, was conducted in the absence of UN sanction or Iraqi threat to the invading nations, and led to 2.7 million Iraqi deaths from violence (1.5 million) or from violently-imposed deprivation (1.2 million). The West has now commenced its Seventh Iraq War since 1914 in over a century of Western violence in which Iraqi deaths from violence or violently-imposed deprivation have totalled 9 million. However Western Mainstream media have resolutely ignored the carnage, this tragically illustrating the adage “History ignored yields history repeated” [1].

Article: Does Washington Intend War With Russia? | OpEdNews

Article: Does Washington Intend War With Russia? | OpEdNews

The Saker: It has become rather obvious to many, if not most, people that the USA is not a democracy or a republic, but rather a plutocracy run by a small elite which some call "the 1%." Others speak of the "deep state." So my first question to you is the following. Could you please take the time to assess the influence and power of each of the following entities one by one. In particular, can you specify for each of the following whether it has a decision-making "top" position, or a decision-implementing "middle" position in the real structure of power (listed in no specific order)

Federal Reserve

Big Banking

Bilderberg

Council on Foreign Relations

Skull & Bones

CIA

Goldman Sachs and top banks

"Top 100 families" (Rothschild, Rockefeller, Dutch Royal Family, British Royal Family, etc.)

Israel Lobby

Freemasons and their lodges

Washington’s War on Russia  :  Information Clearing House - ICH“In order to survive and preserve its leading role on the international stage, the US desperately needs to plunge Eurasia into chaos, (and) to cut economic ties between Europe and Asia-Pacific Region … Russia is the only (country) within this potential zone of instability that is capable of resistance. It is the only state that is ready to confront the Americans. Undermining Russia’s political will for resistance… is a vitally important task for America.

The CIA And America's Presidents :  Information Clearing House - ICH

The CIA And America's Presidents :  Information Clearing House - ICHMarch 13, 2015 "ICH" - Many people still think of the CIA as an agency designed to help American presidents make informed decisions about matters outside the United States. That was the basis for President Truman’s signing the legislation which created the agency, and indeed it does serve that role, generally rather inadequately, but it has become something far beyond that.

Information is certainly not something to which any reasonable person objects, but the CIA has two houses under its roof, and it is the operational side of the CIA which gives it a world-wide bad reputation. The scope of undercover operations has evolved to make the CIA into a kind of civilian army, one involving great secrecy, little accountability, and huge budgets - altogether a dangerous development indeed for any country which regards itself as a democracy and whose military is forbidden political activity. After all, the CIA’s secret operational army in practice is not curtailed by restrictions around politics, many of its tasks having been quite openly political. Yes, its charter forbids operations in the United States, but those restrictions have been ignored or bent countless times both in secret programs like Echelon (monitoring telephone communications by five English-speaking allies who then share the information obtained, a forerunner to the NSA’s recently-revealed collection of computer data) and years of mail-opening inside the United States or using substitutes to go around the rule, as was likely the case with the many Mossad agents trailing the eventual perpetrators of 9/11 inside the United States before the event.

Article: Looking for enemies: Venezuela, the Latest 'National Security Threat' | OpEdNews

Article: Looking for enemies: Venezuela, the Latest 'National Security Threat' | OpEdNews Seriously? Venezuela is a "national security threat"?

That is what President Obama has reportedly declared today in a new executive order.

And how exactly is poor Venezuela, a nation of 29 million, with a small military upon which it spends just 1% of GDP, one of the lowest rates in the world (the US spends 4.5% of GDP on its own bloated military), a threat to the US?

Well, according to the new executive order, some of Venezuela's leading officials have "criminalized political dissent" and are corrupt. That's about it. There's nothing in there about Venezuela threatening military action against the US, or promoting terrorism, or threatening Americans.

Article: Get Vlad! ... How Putin Blocked the U.S. Pivot to Asia | OpEdNews

Article: Get Vlad! ... How Putin Blocked the U.S. Pivot to Asia | OpEdNewsOn February 10, 2007, Vladimir Putin delivered a speech at the 43rd Munich Security Conference that created a rift between Washington and Moscow that has only deepened over time. The Russian President's blistering hour-long critique of US foreign policy provided a rational, point-by-point indictment of US interventions around the world and their devastating effect on global security.

Putin probably didn't realize the impact his candid observations would have on the assembly in Munich or the reaction of powerbrokers in the US who saw the presentation as a turning point in US-Russian relations. But, the fact is, Washington's hostility towards Russia can be traced back to this particular incident, a speech in which Putin publicly committed himself to a multipolar global system, thus, repudiating the NWO pretensions of US elites. Here's what he said:

US War on ISIS a Trojan Horse :  Information Clearing House - ICH

US War on ISIS a Trojan Horse :  Information Clearing House - ICHMarch 07, 2015 "ICH" - "NEO" - In August of 2013, even as the words came out of US President Barack Obama’s mouth regarding an “impending” US military strike against the Syrian state, the impotence of American foreign policy loomed over him and those who wrote his speech for him like an insurmountable wall. So absurd was America’s attempt to once again use the canard of “weapons of mass destruction” to justify yet another military intervention, that many believed America’s proxy war in Syria had finally reached its end.

Petraeus, Snowden, and the Department of Two-Tiered Justice | Foreign Policy

Petraeus, Snowden, and the Department of Two-Tiered Justice | Foreign PolicyThe sweetheart plea deal that former CIA director Gen. David Petraeus received yesterday was supposed to mollify the criticism of people who say that in President Barack Obama’s draconian war on whistleblowers, senior-level government officials are never prosecuted for leaking classified information. Now the former army general’s punishment has been revealed and the truth has become clear: The United States has a two-tier justice system when it comes to classified information.

The "Snowden is Ready to Come Home!" Story: a Case Study in Typical Media Deceit - The Intercept

The "Snowden is Ready to Come Home!" Story: a Case Study in Typical Media Deceit - The InterceptMost sentient people rationally accept that the U.S. media routinely disseminates misleading stories and outright falsehoods in the most authoritative tones. But it’s nonetheless valuable to examine particularly egregious case studies to see how that works. In that spirit, let’s take yesterday’s numerous, breathless reports trumpeting the “BREAKING” news that “Edward Snowden now wants to come home!” and is “now negotiating the terms of his return!”

Ever since Snowden revealed himself to the public 20 months ago, he has repeatedly said the same exact thing when asked about his returning to the U.S.: I would love to come home, and would do so if I could get a fair trial, but right now, I can’t.

Article: Why the rise of fascism is again the issue | OpEdNews

Article: Why the rise of fascism is again the issue | OpEdNews The recent 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz was a reminder of the great crime of fascism, whose Nazi iconography is embedded in our consciousness. Fascism is preserved as history, as flickering footage of goose-stepping blackshirts, their criminality terrible and clear. Yet in the same liberal societies, whose war-making elites urge us never to forget, the accelerating danger of a modern kind of fascism is suppressed; for it is their fascism.

"To initiate a war of aggression," said the Nuremberg Tribunal judges in 1946, "is not only an international crime, it is the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole."

Had the Nazis not invaded Europe, Auschwitz and the Holocaust would not have happened. Had the United States and its satellites not initiated their war of aggression in Iraq in 2003, almost a million people would be alive today; and Islamic State, or ISIS, would not have us in thrall to its savagery. They are the progeny of modern fascism, weaned by the bombs, bloodbaths and lies that are the surreal theater known as news.

Article: Does Collective Insouciance Reign in America? | OpEdNews

Article: Does Collective Insouciance Reign in America? | OpEdNewsPeople texting while riding on roller coaster

How else to put it; collective insouciance-without a care-seems to reign in America.

The problems, issues and events in America and the world from the decline of the middle class, the severe economic conditions that many are facing in this country, to the events in the world as in the crisis in Ukraine, the war in Iraq and Syria and Afghanistan, the recent election in Greece against harsh austerity measures on the backs of the Greek people, the attempted coup in Venezuela to say nothing of climate change, especially the melting of the permafrost most prominently in Siberia with the release of methane gas into the atmosphere that is twenty times more deadly than carbon dioxide are just a few of the multitude of problems and issues that don't appear to be on the minds of many, possibly a majority of Americans.

We Have Been Watching the Same Movie About America’s Wars for 75 Years | The Nation

We Have Been Watching the Same Movie About America’s Wars for 75 Years | The NationThis article originally appeared at TomDispatch.com. To stay on top of important articles like these, sign up to receive the latest updates from TomDispatch.com.

In the age of the all-volunteer military and an endless stream of war zone losses and ties, it can be hard to keep Homeland enthusiasm up for perpetual war. After all, you don’t get a 9/11 every year to refresh those images of the barbarians at the airport departure gates. In the meantime, Americans are clearly finding it difficult to remain emotionally roiled up about our confusing wars in Syria and Iraq, the sputtering one in Afghanistan and various raids, drone attacks and minor conflicts elsewhere.

Fortunately, we have just the ticket, one that has been punched again and again for close to a century: Hollywood war movies (to which the Pentagon is always eager to lend a helping hand). American Sniper, which started out with the celebratory tagline “the most lethal sniper in U.S. history” and now has the tagline “the most successful war movie of all time,” is just the latest in a long line of films that have kept Americans on their war game. Think of them as war porn, meant to leave us perpetually hyped up. Now, grab some popcorn and settle back to enjoy the show.

The “Exceptional” U.S. Suffers Crushing Defeat in Debaltsevo    :  Information Clearing House - ICH

In less than a year, the United States has toppled the democratically-elected government of Ukraine, installed a Washington-backed stooge in Kiev, launched a bloody and costly war of annihilation on Russian-speaking people in the East, thrust the economy into a downward death spiral, and reduced the nation to an anarchic, failed state destined to endure a vicious fratricidal civil war for as far as the eye can see.The “Exceptional” U.S. Suffers Crushing Defeat in Debaltsevo    :  Information Clearing House - ICH

Will 'Mistress Europe' Show the American the Door?   :  Information Clearing House - ICH

Will 'Mistress Europe' Show the American the Door?   :  Information Clearing House - ICHFebruary 20, 2015 "ICH" - It's an age-old, tragic relationship. The mistress and her gadfly, selfish male-benefactor, who is really not a benefactor, but instead is more like her jealous, despotic jailer. Oh yeah, sure, he festoons her with cute presents now and again, chocolates, stockings, perfumes and the like. He also professes ardent devotion and vows to protect her. In return she gratifies his basic needs. But when it gets down to it, the mistress is dispensable, a plaything that is brutally discarded when he is done.

That pretty much sums up the relationship between the United States and Europe. Macho Washington is always reassuring the Europeans of his undying love and chivalrous defence from all sorts of supposed enemies. But it's a pathetic relationship, fundamentally, of unequals. Europe is expected to link arms and parade for the master on occasion. But if she so much as attempts to assert her rights, she is slapped down with boorish contempt. "Hey, babe, shut your mouth and fix me another drink."

Sanctions Should Be Imposed on the U.S. : Information Clearing House - ICH

Sanctions Should Be Imposed on the U.S. : Information Clearing House - ICHFebruary 16, 2015 "ICH" - Another year, another set of coups that we can expect to be administered by the West.
This year, it is all beginning in February. First the onslaught against Argentina and following that comes yet another coup against Venezuela, and its democratically elected, progressive government.

The coup has been thwarted. Venezuela prevailed!

As Telesur reported:

Nicolas Maduro announced Thursday that the government had thwarted a coup attempt which was being coordinated by Venezuela’s right-wing opposition with the support of the U.S. government.

Just the day before the revelations, opposition leaders Leopoldo Lopez, Maria Corina Machado and Antonio Ledezma released a “transition plan” which involved privatization of the country’s oil, deregulation of the economy and accords with “international financial institutions” including the International Monetary Fund.

The army stood firmly by the government of President Maduro. Most of Latin America, including UNASUR, expressed both their solidarity and support.
