OpEdNews - Article: Obama's Human Rights Insouciance

OpEdNews - Article: Obama's Human Rights Insouciance: "Think about that for a minute. Washington is now in the second decade of murdering Muslim men, women, and children in six countries. Washington is so concerned with human rights that it drops bombs on schools, hospitals, weddings and funerals, all in order to uphold the human rights of Muslim people. You see, bombing liberates Muslim women from having to wear the burka and from male domination."

'via Blog this' Has any foreign dignitary ever raised "a sensitive human rights issue" with Obama or his predecessor? How is the world so deranged that Washington can murder innocents for years on end and still profess to be the world's defender of human rights?

The Emperor's Messenger Has No Clothes: Belén Fernández Dresses Down Thomas Friedman | Truthout

The Emperor's Messenger Has No Clothes: Belén Fernández Dresses Down Thomas Friedman | Truthout: Around the world, American tourists routinely are experienced as boorish and smug. Around the world, people smile at American tourists and take their money, all the while despising their arrogance and ignorance. Tourists never quite catch on, wondering why the "natives" don't appreciate them.

Must Watch Video: Let Your Life Be a Friction to Stop the Machine

Must Watch Video: Let Your Life Be a Friction to Stop the Machine: For two hundred years Americans have been indoctrinated with a mythology created, imposed and sustained by a manipulating cabal: the financial elite that built its absolute control on the muscle and blood, good will, ignorance and credulity, of its citizenry.

Okay, I want to point something out here.

For the past year or two, we've seen an increasing number of cases where an individual will use religious beliefs as a justification for denying service.

We've seen small situations where a court clerk will refuse to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple because it violates her religious beliefs, or a B&N will refuse to rent to a same-sex couple because if violates the owner's moral code. In several states, Catholic adoption agencies have shut down rather than obey the non-discrimination law and consider same sex couples as applicants. Most egregious, a pharmacist refused to fill a prescription for the morning-after pill because his religion prohibits abortion.

But now we're seeing an attempt to write this behavior into law -- that a Catholic employer does not have to pay for health insurance for its employees that covers birth control.

In all of these cases, the defense has been some variation of, "the government is infringing on my religious freedom," or "The government has declared war on my faith," or "The government is telling me what I can or can't do."

Bullshit.

The government has mandated that all citizens are entitled to equal protection under the law, equal access to opportunity. You are entitled to practice your faith -- you are not entitled to demand that others be limited by the tenets of your faith.

But the argument that "It violates my moral code" or "It's against my religion" is a red herring. What's really going on here is a calculated attempt to carve a legal loophole for prejudice against gays and lesbians and transgendered people. It's a calculated attempt to carve out a legal justification for eliminating a woman's right to her own reproductive destiny. It's a calculated attempt to create a legal loophole for ignoring any law you don't want to follow.

And it's bullshit.

The "It's against my religion/moral code" argument really translates to, "No, I'm not prejudiced, I'm not discriminating against you at all, but you still have to ride at the back of the bus."

Using "Christianity" as a justification for hurting other people is such a betrayal of Christ's message of "love one another" that I suspect it's enough to make Jesus vomit.

Saying no to gunboat diplomacy|Op-Ed Contributors|chinadaily.com.cn: As one member of the international community, China is aware that it cannot realize its own interests without cooperation with the outside world. But China will also be alert to those Western countries that push too far. Having been invaded by Western powers, China understands the suffering that results. So a rising China will not repeat the errors of others, because the Chinese people believe that what you do not want done to yourself, you do not impose on others.

OpEdNews - Article: Are We On A Road To Nowhere?

OpEdNews - Article: Are We On A Road To Nowhere?: We are drowning here, with gaping holes torn into the hull of the ship of state from charges detonated by the owners and manipulators of capital. Their wealth has become a demonic force in politics. Nothing can stop them. Not the law, which has been written to accommodate them. Not scrutiny -- they have no shame. Not a decent respect for the welfare of others -- the people without means, their safety net shredded, left helpless before events beyond their control."

WAKE UP, America!!! | Adrian Salbuchi: When you understand this, 90% of what’s going on becomes automatically clear. Sure, you might say, “it’s not be all that clear-cut”. Granted: it’s not just “America” and its puppet Obamas and Bushes, but also the UK and its puppet Camerons and Blairs, France, Italy and Spain with their puppet Sarkozys, Berlusconis and Rodriguez Zapateros ..., and most of the rest of the world including my own country, Argentina, with its despicable Menems, Alfonsins, Kirchner and Cavallo ...
